This position is responsible for implementing, maintaining, supporting, and enhancing a wide range of technologies and systems to provide innovative library services and ensure accessibility, functionality and stability to the library’s extensive collections and information resources.Job Description: Library Systems:Library Management System administration including planning (currently EOS) and public on-line catalog.  Provide support, troubleshooting, training, and guidance for staff for the library management system and related library systems. Utilizes a comprehensive understanding of library operations to configure the library management system and related library systems and databases. ? Develops integrations between library systems such as EOS, NoveList, and BARD (Braille and Audio Reading Download) to support discovery and enhance the user experience. Explores, evaluates, recommends, and implements new accessible technologies to advance library strategic goals and enhance user experience. Plans and leads system migrations for Library software; implements new system features as they become available. Develops and maintains library blogs and web sites. Working with Library Teams to develop and maintain the learning management system (currently LearnDash by WordPress). Support analytics and queries to generate insight into library materials, usage, circulation, and space.  Use APIs to allow the integrated library system to share data with the National Library Service for the Blind and Print Disabled (NLS) systems meeting NLS requirements and guidelines. Create and analyze custom database queries and reports relating to database maintenance, quality control, collection management and statistical reporting. Maintain and update the integration of the library’s production tracking program (currently Athena) with the library management system. Library ServicesParticipate in collection management and maintenance, including pull lists, shelving, shifting and weeding. Provide customer service to patrons and community members. Listen to patron needs and show flexibility and willingness to experiment with new ideas to meet the needs of the community. Provide Reader Advisory services to patrons by conducting reference and readers’ advisory interviews to guide patrons to reading materials and information resources.Provide high-quality training in the use of specialized formats, such as digital talking books, digital players, BARD, library’s on-line catalog and other library services. Manage patron accounts using the library’s integrated library systems. Work scheduled phone, mail, and information desk shifts, as well as substituting as needed. Participates in department projects and programs. Outreach and EducationParticipates in library and department projects and programs. Represents the Library at outreach event(s) including conferences, displays, information booths, and open houses. Competencies:Demonstrated working knowledge of system integration and APIs. Demonstrated knowledge and skills in web-based systems/tools such as integrated library systems (ILS), Content Management Systems and customer relationship management (CRM). Knowledge of web client and server applications and database integration. Demonstrated knowledge or working experience with Microsoft SQL, database maintenance and security.Experience with open-source library software, such as Koha. Experience with system administration of EZProxy preferred. Knowledge of technology trends, standards, security best practices, and issues in libraries. What We Offer: Team-oriented, positive work environment Excellent affordable benefit package Paid holidays plus vacation and sick time Iowa Public Employees' Retirement System (IPERS) retirement plan Optional retirement savings 457 plan with employer contributions Employee discount programs Compensation:The hiring salary range is $48,796.80 - $74,110.40 and starting pay is determined by meeting minimum qualifications. You begin at the lower range, with potential increases based on each year of related experience above the minimum qualifications.Schedule Monday through Friday 8:00am – 4:30pm with some evenings and weekend hours for special programming held throughout the year.This is a non-merit position.  Positions in this class are exempt from the screening and referral requirements of the Iowa Department of Administrative Services - Human Resource Enterprise.Minimum Qualification RequirementsGraduation from an accredited college or university and experience equal to one year of full-time professional or paraprofessional work in human service fields such as: social services; nursing; personnel; vocational rehabilitation; education; psychology; or intangible sales, interviewing, recruiting, and promotion; recreation, public information, volunteer service for public or private organizations, fund raising, or ministry in a recognized faith or denomination;

OR

graduation from an accredited college university with a major emphasis in library science or liberal arts and at least one year of library work experience;

OR
