Hello, all!
Our meeting for the Des Moines Chapter of the Iowa Council of the United Blind is being held on February 13, 2023 at 5:30 p.m. at the Iowa Department for the Blind and over Zoom for those who cannot attend in person. Doors will open at 5, and we will be providing pizza from Domino’s in order for people to have a snack and to have some fellowship.
5:30 p.m.: Call meeting to order.
In Donna’s absence, I will read the secretary’s report. We will then hear from the treasurer.
We will then open it up to vote in new members if present. We will then have a discussion about two possible fund-raising options the board has decided to pursue with input from the membership. Following this discussion, we will have a report on the YMCA Supportive Housing dinner at which members of the Des Moines chapter volunteered this past February 7. We will next hear from our state president about the state board meeting held Tuesday, February 7th, regarding our response to section 13 of HSB 126 and SSB 1123. Finally, in honor of Black History Month, I will be talking about the important legacy of a blind African American poet and newspaper owner James Edward McCall.
Ask for new business. Adjourn.
I look forward to seeing you all at our meeting.
Cody Dolinsek, Des Moines Chapter President, Iowa Council of the United Blind
