ICUB, ACB & Meta partner to distribute Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses to blind veterans
Meta Smart Glasses Distribution Event for Blind Veterans
The Iowa Council of the United Blind (ICUB) is proud to partner with the American Council of the Blind (ACB) and Meta to distribute Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses to blind veterans.
Eligible blind veterans can receive a pair of Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses at no cost during this special distribution event.
For people who are blind or have low vision, Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses can provide greater access to visual information in everyday life. Using voice commands, the glasses can read printed text such as mail, signs, and food labels; identify objects, colors, and currency; describe surroundings; and provide information that can assist with orientation and navigation. They can also connect hands-free with a sighted volunteer for real-time visual assistance.

Eligibility
Participants must:
· Be a U.S. military veteran
· Have a diagnosis of legal blindness
· Attend the event in person
· Bring a compatible smartphone capable of downloading and using the Meta AI app
Registration
Preregistration is highly recommended. The first hour of the event will be reserved for pre registered veterans. Walk-ins may be accommodated afterward based on availability.

ICUB volunteers will be available to assist with basic setup, demonstrate different ways the glasses can be used in everyday life, and provide additional resources to help participants continue learning and exploring their glasses after the event.
